I help other musical creators to professionally shape and present to the world the gift that God has given them

5 content ideas for artists (part 4)

As an independent artist, social media is your most powerful tool to reach new people who are interested in you and your music.

If you create good content, you will also get them to follow you and become part of your community.

But you have to continue offering valuable content to this community of followers/fans and sometimes we run out of ideas…

Therefore, I want to help you by sharing with you 5 other content ideas with which to present your songs and continue creating your personal brand, which is what will differentiate you from the rest.

I invite you to try them, as long as you already have a song that sounds professional… (if you need help with this, I can help you)

  1. Create a graphic of a quote or mantra that you like (you can add some personal experience of why it is important to you).
  2. Tell your followers about your favorite book (and why you like it so much).
  3. Share the book you are currently reading (tell what is interesting about it to you).
  4. Talk about one of your favorite instruments/gear/plugins to work with (you can tell an interesting story about your instrument, or show how you play it…).
  5. Invite your audience to ask you questions about your music (if you have enough followers to make it powerful, you can do it live and then post the recording).

I can’t wait to see if you put these tips into practice… If they help you, leave a comment and tell me!

5 content ideas for artists (part 3)

As an independent artist (singer, composer, music producer, beatmaker…), one of your immediate goals is to reach more people who listen to your music and become part of your community. For this, it’s necessary to constantly create content on your social networks, to be present in the heads of your potential followers/fans, and to create your personal brand.

Therefore, I want to help you by sharing with you 5 other content ideas with which to present your songs and that other artists are already using.

I invite you to try them, as long as you already have a song that sounds spectacular… (if you need help with this, I can help you), and there is only one chance to make a good first impression.

1. THE INTRODUCTION

This type of video gives context to people who have not seen you before. It’s important because you want to remind people that there is a real person behind your music and that you also have a charming personality.

2. IF YOU LIKE ARTISTS LIKE…

It’s a good way to include yourself in the world of musicians that your potential followers already listen to and allow those people to discover you.

3. THE STORY OF THE SONG

By taking people on the journey of your song you are allowing them to get to know you and get involved in your project.

4. “I’VE WRITTEN THE SONG OF…”

With this, you want to present your song as the best in its category (song of the summer, 2023, best love song, etc.) It will help you challenge people to listen to it, to see if it’s true.

5. HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED…?

A great talking introduction can increase watch time if you can create a buzz (e.g. have you ever wondered what a French artist who does grunge jazz sounds like?). And the question can help you interact with people in the comments.

I can’t wait to see if you put these tips into practice… If they help you, leave a comment and tell me!

5 viral hooks to use as a musician (part 1)

One of the most powerful tools you have at your disposal, as an artist, to reach a new audience so that people who didn’t know you can become your new fans, is social networks.

Of course, the ability to maintain our attention is becoming less and less and, therefore, I leave you 5 ideas of hooks with which to catch the listener so that they listen to your song.

5 viral hooks to promote your songs:

  1. If your heart has been broken, don’t listen to this song…
  2. If you’ve been down lately, this song might help you get out.
  3. POV: You just discovered your new favorite artist.
  4. You’ll want to turn the volume up to the max with this song!
  5. This song is the signal for you to tell that person what you feel…

Leave a comment if these ideas help you…

5 content ideas for artists (part 2)

Nowadays, one of the most important things as an artist, whether you are a singer, songwriter, music producer, beatmaker, or whatever, is creating a community. That is, find and connect with people who might like your music, but above all, who feel attracted to you as an artist. And this is almost impossible without creating content on your social networks.

Therefore, I want to help you by sharing with you 5 other content ideas that I invite you to try.

Some of these ideas and the ones I left you in a previous article ask you to expose yourself and get out of your “comfort zone”, but if you don’t take this step it will be extremely difficult for you to make yourself known. I encourage you to overcome that fear and show yourself as you are.

  1. Show the step-by-step process of how you create a new song.
  2. Tell an experience from your life that has helped you grow or evolve.
  3. Post a photo in the studio and tell what you work on.
  4. Explain the meaning or story behind one of your songs.
  5. Talk about how one of your other hobbies influences your music.

5 content ideas for artists (part 1)

To make yourself known today as an artist, whether you are a singer, composer, music producer, beatmaker, or whatever you are, it is almost impossible without creating content on your social networks, and, from experience, I know that sometimes it is we run out of ideas about what to post to connect with our audience or with the people we would like to reach.

That’s why I want to help you by leaving you with 5 content ideas that you can start using today, and that will help you define your personal brand, differentiate yourself from other artists, be present in the minds of your followers, and find people who be interested in your music, but above all in you as an artist.

  1. Show your audience what “a day in your life” is like.
  2. Talk about how one of your favorite artists has influenced you.
  3. Tell your audience why you became an artist.
  4. Discuss something you have learned recently and how it has affected your music career.
  5. Post some positive comments from your fans.

Promote yourself, not your music

There is a small but important difference between promoting your music and your music promoting you as an artist

Why? Because if you say to a stranger, “Hey, do you want to hear my new song?” 99% of the time, he won’t be interested.

And it’s normal! What are you surprised by? This person doesn’t know you, people have lives, responsibilities, and little time, so you need more than a question to get someone interested in your music.

AND THAT THAT IS MISSING IS YOU, not your music.

Here the hero of the story is you. And your music is a byproduct of you.

It’s you who will keep people coming back: your story, your personality, your experiences, your style, and how you convey all these things in one amazing song…

Of course, make sure you have an incredible song, and that both the composition and performance, as well as the production and sound, are spectacular (if you need it, I can help you).

So, the next time you think about posting content saying “Here’s my new song…”, don’t stop there. Think about how you can tie into that and give people a reason to be interested in you.

Let me know if it helps you!

Submit your music to independent Spotify Playlists

With the arrival of Spotify and other streaming platforms, there has been a before and after in the way of listening to music.

We would all like to enter the official Spotify Playlists and thus reach millions of listeners, and I invite you to try it with each of your releases; but independent lists are a great opportunity for your music to be discovered, so I leave you 7 Playlist platforms from independent curators to which you can send your songs for FREE.

1. Filtr (Sony Music Entertainment)

It’s one of the largest independent playlists on Spotify, with over 200 playlists across all genres and over 16 million followers.

In addition to Spotify, they have lists on Apple Music and Deezer.

2. Indiemono

It’s one of the independent curator platforms that has grown the most in recent years and they have lists of all styles.

Sending them music is totally free, but if you want to receive feedback about your song, you can become their Patreon (this doesn’t guarantee that they will put your song on Spotify)

3. Soundplate

It’s a London-based record label that has developed marketing and promotion tools and services for artists.

They don’t have their own charts, but rather the music is sent to their associated independent curators. These playlists are constantly being updated and that means more chances that they will include one of your songs.

4. Daily Playlists

This platform focuses exclusively on Spotify.

It’s free and you can send up to 25 songs per month. No albums or EPs are accepted, only singles.

5. For the Love of Bands

They have 3 shipping options:

  • The first is free, but the fee remains in the queue for shipments (which can be quite a few).
  • The second option is also free, but by following a few extra steps you ensure that your song is listened to.
  • The third option is to make a donation of $3 through PayPal to avoid the steps included in free shipping. They also guarantee that within 7 business days, they’ll respond to you if the song has been accepted or not (this donation is not to place the song on the charts but to maintain the website and grow the charts through promotion).

6. Tunemunk

It’s a system that brings together lists of different independent curators.

The service is free, but before submitting a song, artists must follow the playlists and profile of the curators to whom they submit the music. Once this is done, the curators listen to the song and decide whether or not to include it in their lists.

The profits are divided 50% for both parties.

7. iMusician

iMusician specializes in distributing music on digital platforms (iTunes, Deezer, Amazon, Spotify, etc.) which also offers music promotion and monetization services on YouTube.

In addition, they have created their own Spotify lists where artists can submit by filling out a form.

Pay to enter Playlists?

As you can see, these services are practically free. Those who ask for some money in exchange do so to grow their lists and reward the work of the curators who listen to the music sent, something understandable since sitting and listening to the songs received for hours and hours is exhausting.

There are services that offer you to include your songs in Playlists for a fee. If you are serious about your music, don’t do this! Not only is it illegal, but in the long run, it will cause problems with blocks and penalties.

When you write to send your music, keep in mind whoever reads you is a person and not a machine, write as if you were talking to your friend. And if this article helps you, I would love to read your experience.

Why invest in your image, if you are a musician

In my opinion, one of the best investments you can make outside of music, to grow your music career, is in professional photography and video.

That is, quality photos and videos of your live performances and, if you don’t do concerts yet, good studio photos and videos performing your songs.

Why’s that?

Because if you are serious about your musical career, sooner or later you will have to accept that it’s a MUSIC BUSINESS.

And no one follows someone who seems amateur, they follow someone who is attractive, interesting, who is seen to be dedicated to their project.

Furthermore, if you manage to convey with photos and videos what is experienced at one of your concerts, you will be giving people a great reason to come see you live.

Good photos and videos are the best way to show your aesthetic and develop a personal brand.

I always say it, it’s not enough to be professional, you have to look like it!

Stop promoting your songs before they are released

Stop promoting your songs before they come out!

Seriously, IT DOESN’T WORK.

If you try to promote a song that doesn’t exist yet, what is your goal? That people will remember to look for it in a week or two? IT’S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

That only works if you are a famous artist and your audience is already waiting for your new music.

And what can you do from the time your song is finished until it is released on digital platforms?
  • Create quality content to go with everything when your song is available. (Video clip, video with the lyrics of the song, short videos, videos performing your song live, emails and messages with links to your music, etc.)
  • Interact on social networks with other artists, music journalists, bloggers, people who like the same music as you, etc. so that when your song comes out there is a community waiting to listen to it.

I hope this advice helps you make your next launch a success.
